The Magic Pencil: Bringing Your Imagination Life
Target ages: Elementary students (grades 2-6)
Total time: Two hours
“The Magic Pencil” is a fun workshop aimed at strengthening a student’s love and understanding of the world of fiction. It’s all around them—from the books they pick up the library to the latest Harry Potter feature film, fiction is everywhere. Storytelling is an art and lets kids stretch their creative muscles and encourages their imaginations to run free.
Target ages: Elementary students (grades 2-6)
Total time: Two hours

This two-hour workshop will feature a basic, fundamental understanding of fiction—where it is, what it does, and how it’s crafted. Students will spend time pulling apart their favorite fairy tales and stories, playing with the individual ingredients that work together to make magic.
The second half of the class will be all about creation and creativity. Using art supplies and journals (will be provided by instructor), students will draw, write, and create their way to their very own story, hopefully igniting a new understanding of, and passion for, writing their very own stories.
All materials (journals, pencils, art supplies) will be provided by instructor. Students will receive (and take home) a personalized notebook to capture their future masterpieces and creations.
